MANDATORY SHIFT REQUIREMENT
Gateway Skating Club will require each skating family to fulfill mandatory shift hours. The club is run primarily by volunteers and more hands make less work for everyone. There will be a wide variety of jobs available to choose from and information and training will be provided. None of the jobs are difficult. Mandatory Shift Requirement The number of hours required depends upon the category of your skater. The following table specifies the number of credits for the skater level.
Please Note the number of shift credits required is for THIS year and could change from year to year.
|HOURS REQUIRED||4 credits||7 credits||9 credits|
NOTE: The credits required for the hourly skaters are determined based on the hours they skate. How to sign up for your mandatory shift hours: Each shift will be assigned a specific amount of time (1-3 hours). You must provide the club with an email address that you check regularly. All information and sign-ups will be done through your Uplifter Account.
Online sign up instructions
Please sign into your Uplifter account and click on the Volunteer Sign Up button on the bottom of the left hand side. You will see all volunteer positions available. Read through the job description, the times of the job, number of hours assigned and the contact person. Choose the one you would like and click on the SELECT button on the right hand side. A pop up box will appear and have your name in the volunteer box. If this is correct click REGISTER.
Please note the name must be the one associated with your member account. If someone other than a family member is completing the shift, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the details. Shifts will be available for sign up towards the end of August or early September. An email will be sent letting you know they are ready. Sign up will be on a first come first serve basis.
The mandatory shifts will be updated throughout the season. An email will be sent letting you know they are ready. Sign up will be on a first come first serve basis.. There may be circumstances when additional emails will be sent looking for people to fulfill shifts that come up suddenly. The Uplifter sign up will provide details regarding time, date & duties. The shift coordinator may send you an email closer to the date of your shift if needed, but you will not receive a reminder of your shift. Please mark your calendar.
Note: Mature skaters may be eligible to complete volunteer hours. This will be done on an individual basis and the discretion of the mandatory shift coordinator & executive member in charge. The majority of shifts will require adults.
NO SHOW or CANCELLATION of Shift
Once your shift is confirmed, if you are unable to complete the shift, you must find your own replacement and inform the mandatory shift coordinator and executive member in charge of the change. The person replacing you will be credited with the hours unless the mandatory shift coordinator is informed otherwise.
If you do not show up for your assigned shift, you will be charged $50 for each hour in the shift. This will be invoiced to your Uplifter account. Please do not leave all of your shifts to the end of the season. This creates difficulty filling shifts early in the season and (for you) finding shifts later in the season. Therefore, if you do not sign up for ½ of your hours before December 1st, you will be charged $50 per hour owed, for up to ½ of your required hours. If you have questions please contact Andrew Kirk (Mandatory Shift Coordinator) at email@example.com
